GIRL STUFF

Got up this morning feeling the need to put on something with a bit of color. Stumbled through the bedroom (it was 4:00 A.M--my usual, yes, I know, it's an uncivilized wake up time but it's the only way I can try to keep up with work) carefully stepped over the kitties, opened the closet door and opted for these 2 tops and, of course, my standard "holly" jeans. Dressed the whole thing up with a little necklace I once made by embellishing a metal cross.

So, since many of you have asked me to post photos of some of my clothes I though you might enjoy these. Now, keep in mind that, again, I took them with the Photo Booth gizmo on my computer so the quality isn't great. I will try to do this from time to time, IF you think it's worth it. Let me know!

These are very old clothes (like most of the stuff I own)that I got in various cities at various times. Sorry but I really don't remember where. If I knew I would tell you.

FIFI-THE-DWEEB!

I like to fool myself in believing that I am a "cool-cat/savvy/girl" but, regularly (sigh!) I am reminded that I am a DWEEB (and a blonde one to boot!!)

Need proof? Well, the photos I posted on the previous post all show myself holding my "treasured" book but they are all backwards. The thing is that I took them using Photo Booth, a programm on my MAC, so they were quickie shots (I did ask the kitties if they would, please, take the photos with my good camera but they declined (ungrateful little beasts! ) Looks like I will have to feed them fresh-caugh tuna (and sushi grade at that...) Maybe then, just maybe, they will help next time!

Anyway, here comes the DWEEB part. It never occurred to brain-dead moi that ALL I had to do was to flip the photos, comme ca:

WELL, WHILE I AM AT IT I MIGHT AS WELL ANSWER 2 QUESTIONS I HAVE BEEN GETTING:

1) Where did I get the necklace? It's a Betsy Johnson's. I treated myself to it for Christmas.

2) Where did I get the headband? I cut the organza bottom of an old nightgown........

 

Voila! Now you know everything!!

PRAIRIE PRETTY

YES, I got it, My very first copy of ROMANTIC PRARIE STYLE (one of the little perks of being the author...)

I couldn't wait to look at it but I was a bit intimidated too..

Should I look inside?....hummmm.......

.............Maybe I should just hold it for a little while.........like a precious baby.....

Ok, I can relax and enjoy reading through and looking at Mark Lohman's beautiful photography........that alone is such a treat! 


I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people (now my friends) who have allowed us to shoot their lovely homes as well as all the other involved in making this book a reality.

.......and lastly, I would like to post this page because the little poem is for Louis, my partner, my love, who has always supported all my projects and, for the past 11 years, stood by me in spite of my most erratic (and self-absorbed) schedule..........

As most of you know, Maria's home is featured in my book, ROMANTIC PRAIRIE STYLE, along with many other gorgeous homes. The book will be released in April but, lucky me, I am getting an advanced copy tomorrow. Needless to say that I can't wait to hold it in my "hot little hands." It's one thing to do the photo shoots with my friend, the fabulous photographer MARK LOHMAN, and write it, but seeing and holding the final product is a thrill in itself.

Thanks again to all who have been sending me photos of their home for possible magazine features or to be included in the follow up book to ROMANTIC PRAIRIE STYLE. If I have not yet responded, please be patient. I WILL!

GOOD TO BE BACK HOME..........

Hello my friends,

After a quick and busy trip to (frigid) France and Italy I finally made it back home. I will spare you the travel trauma details---like flight delays, cancelled trains and stalled car....to name a few) not to forget a fractured ankle........life goes on! Anyway, it was wonderful to see my sister (and her new/old home---beautiful.) Here is a little sampling........

and enjoying the sights of Rome (and the shops...though with the exchange rate one can't indulge in much shopping....oh well, at least I could enjoy looking at many beautiful things and....drool...)

I did shoot 3 homes in France and finally had the pleasure to meet with the Italian magazine publisher in Rome. I have been working with them for one year and we had never met so getting to see these wonderful people face to face was a real treat. 

Below are six of their magazines with which I am associated and they have asked me to create a NEW ONE for them. Needless to say that I am thrilled.

So, besides doing ROMANTIC COUNTRY, the next PRAIRIE STYLE book, and shooting new homes, I will be working on creating this new magazine. 

Now, I know you are going to ask me how you can get your hot little hands on these but right now they are NOT available in the States. That might changed and, when/if it does, I will let you know .

****I am going to be looking for more homes to shoot for everything mentioned above so if you feel your home might be a good fit please email me at coconut19@verizon.net

Please keep the email short and attach 4 photos of each room in your home but make sure the photos show the whole rooms and don't send more than 5 or 6 vignettes.

In order to make a decision I need to see each room shot from each corner of the room into the opposite direction.

A few vignettes are fine (I will ask you for more if need be) but they do not help in getting a sense of the home.

Add a few exterior shots as well. I know gardens are not at their best now but at least I will see if they offer some outdoor shot opportunities....

Here is what I am looking for:

*more "prairie" homes

*romantic homes (but not "over -the-top-chi-chi-pompom-frou-frou"....you know what I mean...simply elegant and/or gently rustic)

*romantic homes with a bit of contemporary flair

*romantic/nordic style homes

*farmhouses
