..............As I was taking a little time off yesterday my kitties were purring away next to me. It made me think of all the poor, homeless or abused little animals who so need a good home and compelled me to post this. We are aware of their terrible predicament, I know. But while some cats (and doggies) are pampered (not sure this kitty appreciates having her hair done..................)
................others are badly neglected, abused and in sad need of loving home......................................
.................I don't want to post a lot of sad photos but you get the picture, so to speak.
So, if you have been thinking of rescuing an animal, JUST DO IT! I can assure you your reward will exceed your wildest dreams. Having adopted my 3 kitties, I know that for a fact. Every time you come home, you will be greeted with love and kisses, no question asked. Your little (or BIG) friend will always be there for you and you for him/her. You will fill their life with happiness and they will return the sentiment many many many times over. It's a win-win situation. Run to your local shelter or just look on the many Internet sites. The hardest part is to pick your new friend because there is so many waiting to be loved.......................by you!

............and, finally, I had to share yet another pair of shoes........................
I got those in Wal*Mart (of all places!) I had in mind to find something like that for working in the garden but could not locate anything under $200! I happened to go to Wal Mart to get some plants and decided to check their work boots...and, VOILA, these little leather goodies were waiting for me. AND THE PRICE YOU ASK??? Only $11. YES, this is not a mistake, they really are $11. I was so excited that I grabbed them, tried one on and ran to the cashier. When I got home I couldn't wait to put them on. That's when I discovered one was an 7 1/2 and the other a nine!....Not only the nine was way to big but the 7 1/2 fits me like a glove (ha...ha...ha!) So back to Wal Mart to exchange the 9. The 7 1/2 fits fine (I am normally and 8, even an 8 1/2....yup! I have a big foot....and quite known for often putting it my mouth....) but they are larger than a regular 7 1/2 ( or maybe my foot shrunk............)
OK, enough fooling around for now. Back to work.
See ya! xo fifi

I have to say that I love the post about the animals...I have been rescuing animals for as long as I can remember! I can't tell you how many over the years that we have had, and ones that I have fostered until they were adopted, but I can tell you how CRAZY I am...now we have 4 dogs, and snake(EW!) that was rescued, and...count them....NINE...that's right NINE kitties! THANK YOU FOR THAT POST!

Aww, that is so sweet to post about mistreated animals. We had a beautiful cat that obviously was domestic but lost. the animal shelter wouldn't take her, she was so tame and sweet. we didn't see her for a few months but when we finally did it was snowing and cold. when we took her in, her ears were biten, she had a huge cut on her face from a pack of 3 black cats that hang out here. it was really sad. she used to be really tame and sweet, now she's skiddish and afraid. sadly, she went outside for a break and she never came back one time. we see her from time to time but she prefers the streets. i don't know how cats usually act, but she didn't want to come back. one of my neighbors thought she was pregnant so maybe she had her kitties and was taking care of them. we looked, but nothing. so sad, she was a sweet kitty. i haven't seen her for a month. long post, sorry, just wanted to share. love the blog.

Hi Fifi,
Love Leslie's creations and your work boots, $11.00. What is it about us girls that we have to say I only paid .99 cents for this? It's the art of the hunt right?
You are so right about the rescue animals. Hats off to you sweet one - It is wonderful to come home to that unconditional love. Thank you for bringing that to so many people's attention. All your kitties can come hang out with rescued Zeke and my two rescued babies here anytime you're away. Oh the one up stories they'll tell! This is the way it used to be and now we all live like princes and princesses ~ now that's happily ever after.

I love finding good deals at Walmart. it's the real world. who has $200 for a pair of garden shoes? And why would any one spend $200 for a pair of garden shoes?? Good for you!

HILARIOUS! Yes, I wear a size 8-1/2 too Fifi! I can attest to my sweet Miss Muppet, she was a rescue kitty too....can you believe it??(you have seen photos of her)...someone separated her and her Sister and were not supposed to...long story short, they were allergice to the long hair, and the shelter kept INSISTING making sure they were not allergic, but they were not truthful....our luck, we rescued her and to this day, she has has the best home and family she could have - US! Like you said...Just do it! Great pics, and blogging as usual!

I couldn't agree more on the rescuing animals front and the bargain front. (Well done on the $11 boots!) We rescued a dog in October and I love him so much I could pop. I can't imagine that he was ever not with us and cannot even fathom that someone gave him up. Thanks for the good reminder to folks that there are so many little lovelies just waiting for homes.

Fifi ~ I love your post about the kitties...I have three wonderful kitties from the shelter. We always get the most unusual kitties there! Abby is an Abyssinian, Frederica is a bengal and Jasmine is a maine coon! Every time we visit the shelter my daughter wants to bring another home. Unfortunately we are at the legal limit! Love your boots! They are adorable. Happy gardening! Blessings, Victoria Lynn

I just love that you suggest helping animals. I am such an animal lover myself. I make handicap catnip dolls for that reason. I love that I can help even one pet by doing what I do. Animals are God's creatures. Love your blog. I really enjoyed visiting. :-)

Dear Fifi,
Love your post about the animals. In the 48 years that DH and I have been married, we have had some type of animal except for 5 months. I kept telling myself during that 5 months that I didn't want anymore aniamls. LOL I now have a Westie and Welsh terrier - they don't know they are dogs.
I love the picture of the white cat with curlers - reminds of my sweet Crystal Blue that I had for 14 years.
Your work boots are neat and only you could make them look glamours.
I wish that I could find a little "nest" like the one you presently have - it reminds me of a dollhouse and your yard "a little slice of heaven."
Thanks for sharing.

Both my dogs were rescued from "Death Row" and it still hurts to think how close the world came to being deprived of their sweetness, love and loyalty.
I agree, Just Do It! :-)
Love the boots, Fifi. What a great find.

Oh Fifi, so funny you post about all the poor cats and dogs that are dropped off in shelters. We got our last dog at a shelter. That little mutt was the center of our lives around and when he suddenly died in Nov. it left a terrible hole. A few weeks ago we went to a rescue shelter and got our new little dog. She is one yr. old tiny Jack Russell Terrier. I don't think the owner had any experience with JRT..they can be a bit intense ha ha. We just love her we're working on the bad manners. The guy just dumped her off and didn't even tell them her name! We've named her CoCo...my daughter is a fashion major :)
Great post,
Kathy

Walmart....who knew??
Did you know that you can virtually adopt a pet thru the ASPCA? Great idea for those who are allergic, can't have pets or just want to help out in a personal way.
Enjoy your week~what beautiful weather we are having here in Florida:-)~XO~Janet

I've been wanting a kitty for quite some time. My hubby and I go to Columbia to a 2nd chance shelter and look at the babies. They seem so appreciative when we are there. Sometime soon I hope to have one.
I love you boots, it pays to look everywhere doesn't it? Have a great week, I love you blog too!!

I had a long, hard fight with getting past such wonderful ankle boots as we wore in the 80's. I always loved them and used to search thrift stores for them. THEN I read that Jackie~O used to schlep around the White House in her short riding boots (which are visually very similar) and I was suddenly empowered (being the Vintage Fashion Junquie I am) it just goes to show we should go with what we love, not the latest trend!! They look adorable with your white skirt!

Thanks to you... We just adopted a sweet six week old kitten today. She is the cutest thing I have ever laid eyes on other than my 3 kids. Thank you, We adore her already. Going to that shelter today brought tears to my eyes. It was good for my 7yr old to see as well. I will be posting pictures of our new sweetie soon. Hope you can drop in and visit my blog one day. xoxo, Susie

Thanks so much for reminding people that there are a lot of sad little souls in need of a home and care at the Animal Shelter. I volunteer at our local shelter and see so many very sad cases. Animals want nothing but a warm safe home, food and some loving. They come with no strings attached and so much love in their hearts to give.
P.S. I LOVE your gardening boots!!
